The first step to becoming a game designer is playing games so that you can understand all the possibilities and get a better idea of what sort of game you want to create.

Elements of Game Design:
- Goals - How do you win the game? (Examples: reach goal block, collect all points, defeat all enemies)
- Rules - What are the rules of the game? (Examples: Only 30 seconds, only 5 health)
- Space - What is the setting of the game (Examples: wraparound, maze-like)
- Components - What are the pieces of the game? (Examples: enemies, blocks, items)
- Mechanics - What do you do in the game? (Examples: jumping, blasting, avoid)
